MISys Manufacturing –Use a Test Company for What-if Forecast Simulations.
Manufacturing leaders are always interested in gaining more visibility about the future because visibility helps define strategy. For the Materials and Production Management leads, creating future strategy such as for the next quarter can be really challenging because it involves finding ways to accurately refine various sales forecast scenarios into the time phased material and production demands.
In MISys, forecast simulations can be run through MRP to determine the impacts on Purchased Parts, Assembly Production and Costs for various situations, including the following scenarios.
1. Adding new products to the sales mix.
2. Removing existing products from the sales mix
3. Ramping Sales Volume up or down
4. Factoring in Sales Volume Seasonality
The key to using MRP for simulation, however, is the parallel Test company. While there is a cost for an additional MISys company license (under $2,000US each currently), the benefits of having that Test company as a Sandbox could quickly pay back due to a significant increase in future requirements, resulting in more effective plans and strategies.
A MISys test company is easy to setup, simply restore the Live company dbase into the Test company using the MISys Admin interface prior to each simulation. The dbase restore only takes a minute and that way the data will be current.
